2007 Fair events
The Achenbachs bakery float took 2nd place in the
Ephrata parade on Sept 26 and 1st place (most outstanding) at the
New Holland parade on Oct 3 and 3rd place at the Manheim parade on
Oct 10!

Achenbach’s 2nd annual Long John eating contest was
held at the New Holland Fair on Saturday, October 7th, 2006. The
contest was divided into three age groups. Ages 8-12 had to eat 3
vanilla Long Johns, ages 13-17 had to eat 6, and ages 18 and up
had to eat 9. The person in each category who finished their Long
Johns in the shortest amount of time (no upchucking allowed), was
declared the winner. Each winner received a $10.00 pastry gift
certificate and an Achenbach’s T-shirt featuring “Johnny” the Long
John.

Achenbachs float was in the
Ephrata, New Holland, and Manheim parades. The 2006 theme was
“Pumpkin Time” and the Float was made up of 2 jumbo pumpkin pies,
2 jumbo pumpkin whoopee pies and 1 jumbo pumpkin bread in the
center. Float constructed by David Burkholder and Jessica Green.
